The Apparatenhal (5,800 m²)

Can multiple events take place at the same time?

Yes. The Apparatenhal and the Wasruimte can be hired separately, allowing different events to take place simultaneously. If you prefer exclusive use of the venue, you can hire both spaces together.

Can I organise a multi-day event?

Yes. The Werkspoorkathedraal is ideal for multi-day events such as conventions, trade fairs and festivals. We can accommodate setup, event days and dismantling to ensure everything runs smoothly.

It’s also possible to connect two consecutive events through our WSK Matchmaking Service, helping organisers share production resources and create additional value.

Yes. The Werkspoorkathedraal is an excellent venue for business festivals in Utrecht. Its large indoor space makes year-round events possible, regardless of the weather. A limited number of public festivals can also be hosted each year.

Is the Werkspoorkathedraal available for weddings?

Our Wasruimte can be hired for wedding ceremonies, dinners and receptions. Unfortunately, the Apparatenhal is not available as a wedding venue due to its size and intended use.

How much does it cost to hire the Werkspoorkathedraal?

The cost of hiring the Werkspoorkathedraal depends on several factors, including the type of event, preferred date, event space, number of guests, duration and any additional facilities required.

Our primary focus is hosting events, so event bookings always take priority. However, if availability allows, we’re happy to explore the possibilities for photo and video shoots, especially closer to the desired date.

4. Accessibility

Is the Werkspoorkathedraal easy to reach?

Yes. The Werkspoorkathedraal is centrally located in Utrecht and is easily accessible by car, public transport and bicycle. The venue is within walking distance of Utrecht Zuilen railway station and is also easily accessible for suppliers and event logistics.

• By car: The venue is easily reached via the motorways around Utrecht. There is ample parking on-site and additional parking is available nearby.
• By public transport: The Werkspoorkathedraal is approximately a 10-minute walk from Utrecht Zuilen station. Follow the Werkspoorpad to reach our main entrance.
• By bicycle: From Utrecht city centre, the venue can be reached in around 15 minutes. Bicycle parking is available at the entrance.

If you’re attending an event, please follow the travel information provided by the event organiser. Our traffic stewards will be on-site to assist you.

Does the Werkspoorkathedraal offer free parking?

Yes. The Werkspoorkathedraal has its own on-site car park. For larger events, we implement a dedicated traffic and parking plan with professional traffic stewards and clear signage to ensure smooth access.

Additional parking is available on Tractieweg and Nijverheidsweg. Please note that these public parking areas are paid from Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Check the municipality’s website for the latest parking information.

Does the Werkspoorkathedraal have electric vehicle charging stations?

Yes. Our on-site car park offers 22 electric vehicle charging points. If these are fully occupied, additional charging stations can be found throughout the Werkspoorkwartier.

5. Facilities

Does the Werkspoorkathedraal offer technical facilities for events?

Yes. The Werkspoorkathedraal is equipped with extensive technical facilities for professional events. Depending on the type of event, the venue can be fitted with lighting, sound and audiovisual equipment. It is also easily accessible for suppliers and production teams.

Thanks to its spacious industrial setting and flexible layout, the Werkspoorkathedraal is particularly well suited for large-scale productions such as conventions, trade fairs and corporate events where technical production plays a key role.

Are backstage and production areas available?

Yes. In addition to the Apparatenhal and the Wasruimte, the Werkspoorkathedraal offers spaces that can be used as backstage areas or production rooms. These are suitable for crew members, artists, speakers and technical teams, depending on the event.

We’d be happy to show you the available options during a venue tour.

Does the Werkspoorkathedraal have outdoor space?

Yes. It is possible to hire the outdoor area behind the venue or the terrace overlooking the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal as part of your event.

Please note that certain conditions apply to the use of these outdoor spaces. We’d be happy to explain these during a personal consultation.

Is the venue accessible for guests with disabilities?

Yes. The entire venue is on one level and is fully wheelchair accessible. An accessible restroom is also available.

Is the Werkspoorkathedraal a sustainable venue?

Absolutely. Transforming the historic Werkspoorkathedraal into an event venue was the first step in our sustainability journey. Today, our roof is fitted with 1,600 solar panels, and we work with sustainable catering partners and local suppliers wherever possible.
